Soup Bread Bowls
Wow your family with their favorite soup served in a bowl that looks (and is) good enough to eat. The bread machine does almost all the work--but you don't have to tell anyone.

2/3 cup milk
1 egg
3 tablespoons margarine or butter, cut up
3 cups bread flour
1 tablespoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon active dry yeast or bread machine yeast
1/2 cup shredded cheese, such as cheddar, Swiss, or Monterey Jack

Add the first 7 ingredients to a 1-1/2- or 2-pound bread machine according to the manufacturer's directions. Select the dough cycle. When cycle is complete, remove dough from machine. Punch down. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, generously grease the outside of four 10-ounce custard cups or individual casseroles. Place, upside-down, on a greased large baking sheet(s) leaving 3 to 4 inches between cups. Divide dough into 4 portions. On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion into a 12x6-inch rectangle. Sprinkle about 2 tablespoons cheese onto half of each rectangle to within 1/2 inch of the edges. Moisten edges; fold each rectangle in half to form a 6-inch square. Seal edges. Drape the dough squares over the greased cups, pressing lightly. Do not let rise. Bake in 350 degree F oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. If necessary, loosely cover with foil last 10 minutes to prevent over-browning. Remove the bread bowls from cups; cool on wire racks. Makes 4 servings.


Sourdough-Like Beer Bread
Red Star yeast package

1 package active dry yeast
3 cups bread flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 tsps. salt
1 cup beer (80 degrees)
1/3 cup water (80 degrees)
2 tablespoons oil (80 degrees)

Place ingredients into pan in the order suggested by your machines manual.

I usually use a light crust setting because my family prefers it, however,you can use a medium crust if you prefer.



Sourdough Maple Walnut Bread

A twist on a basic sourdough.

3/4 cup sourdough starter
1/2 cup milk or water
3 tbsp maple syrup
1 1/2 egg
1/3 tsp cinnamon (optional)
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 to 3 tbsp vital gluten (optional)
3 1/3 cup whole wheat flour
1 1/2 tsp yeast
1/3 cup walnuts, chopped
1/3 cup raisins (optional)

Rises to approximately 3/4 of the pan.
Flour equivalents: 4 1/2 cups.
Setting: medium.

Spaghetti Bread (bread machine)

With the powerful flavors of Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning and olive oil, this is the perfect companion or main course for Italian dinners with or without spaghetti.

1 pkg yeast
3 cup bread flour
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp garlic
salt
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
1 tbsp olive oil (use ingredients at room temperature.)
1 1/2 cup warm water

Add all ingredients into the pan in the order listed. Select white bread and push "start."
